Truenote

Built for one household first

Truenote started as the spreadsheet I kept trying to explain to an AI.

I'm Zachery Gentry. I run a small software company in Texas, and our household has the shape a lot of households have now: two W-2 jobs with their own 401(k)s, 1099 work on the side through an LLC, a mortgage, a car loan, a baby on the way. Every finance app I tried wanted to be the place I think about money, and every AI I asked for help knew nothing about any of it. I kept pasting the same context into a chat: this deposit is 1099 income and 30% of it is spoken for; that Lowe's charge was for the business; we want six months of runway before March.

So I built the thing I actually wanted: one place that holds the accounts and the context, owned by me, that any AI can read with my permission. Not another assistant. The data and the memory, with the agent interchangeable, because agents get better every quarter and my financial context should outlive any one of them.

What it believes

  • Your data, your agents. Every connection is an explicit grant you can see, narrow and revoke.
  • Every access leaves a receipt. If an agent read it, there's a line in your log that says so.
  • Context is data. Goals, the plan, income and notes are structured rows an agent can query and update, not free text buried in a chat.
  • Read-only to banks, forever. Truenote reports and projects. It never moves money.
  • Boring security. Sealed tokens, least privilege, short-lived credentials, nothing clever.

Who it's for

Any household that's into its finances and already talks to an AI. The self-employed features are there because I need them, not because they define the audience. If you budget by putting money in buckets rather than fitting every transaction into a line, you'll feel at home.

The company

Truenote is made by Zachery Gentry LLC, a single-member company in Austin, Texas. Bank connections are through Plaid; the app runs on Railway; this site runs on Cloudflare. There are no investors and no plans to sell your data to anyone, ever.
