Truenote docs
What an agent, a script or a person needs to use Truenote: the MCP server, the API, scopes, and what the data means.
The MCP server is https://app.usetruenote.com/mcp; the REST API is https://app.usetruenote.com/v1 (OpenAPI). Every page here is also Markdown: add .md to its address, or ask with Accept: text/markdown. The whole site in one file is llms-full.txt.
Start
- Getting started: From sign-up to an agent reading your money: connect accounts, add context, connect Claude or ChatGPT, read the receipts.
Agents
- Auth, scopes and exclusions: How an agent or script authenticates (OAuth 2.1 or a personal access token), what each scope allows, and how exclusions hide accounts and businesses in every query.
- Prompts that work well: Questions the tools answer well, from the overview to the tax projection, and the ones that write.
- Uploading documents: How a paystub, W-2 or statement gets into Truenote from an agent or a script without the file passing through the model.
- Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or a script: step by step for each client.
Reference
- MCP tools: every tool with its scopes and arguments, from the server's own definitions.
- API reference: every
/v1route, from the generated spec. - Data conventions: Money, dates, signs, ids, paging and errors, the same everywhere in the API and the tools.
- Export and deletion: Take everything out as JSON or CSV at any time, and what deleting the account does.
- Changelog: what changed, including API deprecations.
