Connect ChatGPT to your bank accounts with Truenote
Add Truenote as an app in ChatGPT's developer mode, approve what it may see, and ask about your money with your own context behind it.
- 1
Turn on developer mode
In ChatGPT go to Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on developer mode.
- 2
Create the app
Choose Create app, name it Truenote, paste https://app.usetruenote.com/mcp and pick OAuth for authentication.
- 3
Approve on Truenote's consent screen
ChatGPT opens Truenote. Sign in, choose what it may see, and allow it. New connections start read-only.
- 4
Ask
Add the app to a chat and ask: "What did we spend on groceries the last three months, and how does that compare with the plan?"
Why not ChatGPT’s own bank connection?
ChatGPT can read Plaid accounts on its own, but what it learns stays inside its chat. Truenote keeps the accounts and the context (the plan, buckets, income sources, which business a charge belongs to) in one place you own, so ChatGPT, Claude and a script all see the same picture, and you can switch assistants without starting over.
When ChatGPT wants to write
The first time it tries to save something, Truenote asks you to allow writing for that connection. Writes only touch Truenote’s own records; nothing moves at your bank.
Where the receipts are
Connected agents → Activity in Truenote lists every call ChatGPT made. Revoke cuts it off on its next call.
