Truenote

Build on your own data with the Truenote API

A personal access token and an OpenAPI spec. Read your accounts, transactions, the plan, buckets and the tax projection from any script, with the same scopes and receipts as an agent.

  1. 1

    Make a token

In Truenote open Connected agents → New access token. Pick its scopes and lifetime (7 to 365 days) and which accounts it must never see. It's shown once.

  2. 2

    Call the API

Send it as Authorization: Bearer tn_pat_… to https://app.usetruenote.com/v1. The spec is at https://app.usetruenote.com/v1/openapi.json.

  3. 3

    Read the receipts

Every request is in Connected agents → Activity, like an agent's. Revoke the token there.

curl https://app.usetruenote.com/v1/overview \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer tn_pat_…"

What’s there

/v1/overview, /v1/accounts, /v1/transactions (filters and keyset paging), /v1/spending, /v1/recurring, /v1/net-worth-history, /v1/holdings, /v1/investment-transactions, /v1/liabilities, /v1/context, /v1/plan, /v1/plan/actuals, /v1/taxes/projection, /v1/tasks, /v1/buckets, /v1/review-items, /v1/bucket-rules, /v1/documents (list, read, upload a file) and /v1/export (everything, JSON or a zip of CSVs). The same scopes and exclusions as MCP apply, in SQL, totals included.

The same token also works against the MCP endpoint, for a client that speaks MCP but not OAuth.

Limits and promises

240 requests a minute per token. /v1 changes are additive; deprecations are announced in the changelog. Money is integer cents; days are YYYY-MM-DD; transaction amounts keep Plaid’s sign (positive is money out).
